The conference will take place in the city of Durham, England, UK. Durham is a best known for its cathedral (an UNESCO World Heritage Site), and – of course – the university, which is the third-oldest university in England, and home to 20000 students. Other attractions in the city of Durham include Durham Castle, which used to be the residence of the Bishop of Durham but now serves as a university college (and can be visited as part of a guided tour), the Botanic Garden, and the medieval buildings and gardens at Crook Hall.
There is also a rich range of attractions in County Durham, outside the city of Durham, including many historic sites, family fun activities, the seaside, plenty opportunity for walking, hiking, etc. There is opportunity to visit some of these as part of our excursions:
