General Programme

Academic programme

The academic programme will consist of five invited (keynote) presentations, about 50 contributed oral presentations (no parallel sessions!), and a poster session. There will also be a short course on the Sunday preceding the conference.

The programme is available here. If you encounter any issues concerning the timing of any event that you are involved in, or if you spot any mistakes in the programme, please contact iwsm-2024@durham.ac.uk

A note for oral presenters: All contributed talks are allocated a 20-minute slot. This is to be understood as "16+4", with 16 minutes for the presentation, and four minutes for questions and handover. You are welcome to send us your presentation slides in advance to iwsm-2024@durham.ac.uk but please do bring in any case your slides with you on the day.

A note for poster presenters: Posters should be prepared in format A0 and must be in portrait orientation. The A0 poster itself does not need to be submitted to us before, please just bring it to the conference. The poster session will be on Tuesday from 15:10 to 17:00, in CLC 406 and CLC 407 in the Calman Centre. Posters can be mounted from 12pm on that day, and will stay mounted until Wednesday 2pm. The poster boards will be taken down on the Wednesday afternoon.

Social programme

The social programme includes a welcome reception (Monday), an excursion (Wednesday afternoon) and a conference dinner (Thursday).
