How to get to Durham
Durham is situated in the North East of England about 18 miles
south of Newcastle upon Tyne. The InterCity train service from
London King's Cross station takes about 3 hours. There is a taxi
rank at Durham station.
The local airports are Newcastle and Teeside. Both are served by
flights from London Heathrow and London Gatwick, and there are also
some direct international flights.

Travel from
- Newcastle
- Take the metro (£1.00) to Newcastle station followed by a
train to Durham. Alternatively a taxi from Newcastle airport to
Durham costs about £25.
- Teeside
- Take a taxi from Teeside airport to Durham, approximate cost
£20.
- London Heathrow
- Take the underground direct to London King's Cross then an
InterCity train to Durham.
- London Gatwick
- Take the train to London Victoria. Change stations to London
King's Cross by taxi or underground, then take an InterCity train
to Durham.
- Manchester
- There are connecting train services to Durham from Manchester
Airport. Journey time about 3 hours.
