Geometric transitions, Calabi-Yau integrable systems, and open GW invariants

Abstract:

We explore the behavior of Calabi-Yau integrable systems under geometric transitions. We find Hitchin's systems parametrizing Higgs bundles as limits of the CY systems. This leads to a mathematical interpretation and to compact analogues of the recent work of Dijkgraaf-Vafa, and connects with the calculation of open string invariants.
